Abstract

Elegia, written by Montse Pou, is a deeply introspective and poetic narrative that unravels the intricacies of a human relationship marked by silence, distance, and unspoken pain.

The story portrays love not as a linear path but as a complex emotional landscape shaped by absence, longing, and the gradual erosion of connection. Through lyrical language and subtle emotional shifts, the narrator reconstructs fragments of a bond that once held meaning, while simultaneously grappling with its fragility.

In my Italian translation, I aimed to preserve the musicality and emotional ambiguity of the original Catalan, highlighting the psychological depth of the characters and the elegiac tone that gives the text its title.

This translation required careful attention to rhythm, connotation, and the undercurrents of melancholy that run beneath the surface of the prose.
